TaskBoost Privacy Policy

    TL;DR: TaskBoost stores your API Key locally in your browser. All communication goes directly between your browser and Linear's API. We collect no data, send no analytics, and have no backend server.
  

1. Information We Collect

TaskBoost does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. The only data stored is:

Linear Personal API Key — stored in your browser's chrome.storage.local. This never leaves your device except when sent directly to Linear's API.
User preferences — such as default team, priority, notification interval, and badge settings. Stored locally only.

2. How Data Is Used

All data is used exclusively to provide the extension's functionality:

Your API Key is sent directly in the Authorization header to api.linear.app (Linear's official GraphQL API) to create issues, fetch your profile, and retrieve your assigned issues.
Page URL and selected text (when you right-click to create an issue) are captured locally and included in the issue creation request to Linear.

3. Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties. The only external communication is between your browser and Linear's API servers. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.

4. Permissions Explained

activeTab — Access the current tab's URL and title when creating an issue.
contextMenus — Add "Create Issue with TaskBoost" to the right-click menu.
storage — Store your API Key and preferences locally.
sidePanel — Display your issues in Chrome's side panel.
alarms — Periodically poll for badge count updates.
scripting — Inject the issue creation overlay into web pages.
host_permissions — Communicate with api.linear.app and linear.app.

5. Data Retention

Your API Key and preferences remain in your browser until you explicitly disconnect or uninstall the extension. You can clear all data at any time from the Options page ("Clear all data" button).

6. Security

Your API Key is stored using Chrome's secure local storage. We recommend:

Using a dedicated API Key for TaskBoost (you can revoke it anytime from Linear settings).
Not sharing your device with untrusted users.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the changes here and update the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced via the extension's update notes.

8. Chrome Web Store Compliance

    Limited Use Compliance: The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
